Fairbridge Programme
The Fairbridge programme is designed to support under-achieving young people who have been, or are in danger of being, excluded from school by helping them to develop their personal and social skills, with a view to successfully re-engaging them in full-time education.
The programme begins with a five day access course, encompassing a three day residential. During the Access course, the young people take part in challenging and adventurous activities, the aim of which is to develop team work skills whilst, in addition, providing them with the opportunity to better understand their strengths and weaknesses. The young people then complete ten follow on sessions over a period of ten weeks, with activities ranging from coasteering, cooking to even survival sessions. Alongside these group based activities, young people receive one-to-one support to create new, and review existing, goals and soft targets.
